It’s hard to believe there is only one month until I embark on my mission to Colombia! Four and a half months ago I accepted the position at ECA and now am finishing final preparations before going. All my responsibilities in Raleigh are now over, and I look forward to my next adventure. I leave Raleigh Saturday, June 14 to visit family in PA for a week and then will participate in a training event in NY for two weeks before returning to Raleigh July 5 and flying out July 9.
My original support-raising goal for my first year of ministry was $9,600 ($800 a month). I now have $18,175 raised/pledged! My second year is largely covered as well. Praise God! Thanks to so many generous people, I also have the opportunity to attend a two-week training event/conference June 21-July 4 to better prepare me to teach in an overseas setting. I am amazed at all the people the Lord has used to come along side me financially and prayerfully. I have been so blessed and humbled during this process.
I am going to Colombia indefinitely without any set plans or expectations and don’t know when or if I will move back to the States. It will truly be an adventure with God walking with me and guiding me every step of the way. I have the awesome privilege of taking the gospel to the nations. I am expecting God to do amazing and miraculous things through me for His glory and lead people to Him. Yes, Colombia is a dangerous place, but I honestly don’t fear anything because God has called me for this very purpose. It’s cool to think how the past 27 years of my life have prepared me for what God has called me to do now. As I enter this new season of life I know the hand of God is upon me. I am ready to go.
I have learned a lot of lessons during this time of preparation. It hasn’t been particularly easy, but the Lord gives me bursts of excitement and anticipation along the way. I would certainly appreciate prayers for my final preparations and for God to continue to prepare the hearts of those in Colombia to know Him. I will need your prayers for physical and spiritual protection. May the Lord bless you. Remember, we are in this together!
In Christ,
Jonathan
