Enciende El Fuego
The foundation is starting to grow even more in numbers of kids. We have seen some things not work out that we thought were going to work out, and we have had some surprises as well. One exciting change is the addition of a drawing teacher and a flute teacher on Saturdays. They literally showed up randomly one day and have been committed! We are also praying about starting a new ministry with those same teachers in a different neighborhood. The leader isn’t even Christian, but he wants us to teach the Bible to his students and even start sports activities on Thursday afternoons! We now have a new volunteer with us who will be working with the oldest age group and teaching sports.
We are blessed to have Maria’s sister do her internship with us. She has been helping us the much-needed small tasks and has been handing in donation letters to many companies. We plan on having a work week (June 18-22) to paint and clean the building we are working in and a VBS June 25-29 during school vacation. I had the opportunity to preach at a young adult service at our church about pursuing heavenly treasures and also shared about our foundation. Several persons expressed interest in helping us. I also shared about the Great Commission at small group, and we talked about the foundation there as well. We also invited four of the foundation kids to our house to play games!
School Ministry
Maria’s work continues to go well at El Shaddai teaching English. She ends her time there in two weeks, but she has enjoyed growing in her English and being a light to the kids. My work in Jireh has been a bit challenging this year as there has been a lot of spiritual stuff going on surrounding the school. I continue to take my 4th and 5th graders to do evangelism once each period. I was also in charge of Canasta del Amor where I got to take some students to deliver food items to families in need. Work in the Barrio 17 elementary school continues to go well, and God continues to give me opportunities to talk about Him. One day a student hurt his leg badly and a group of us prayed and God immediately took away his pain as he felt a force moving over his leg!
On to the Next Level
The past month has been an excellent month full of surprises, challenges, and sweet moments. We are very blessed to be able to be doing all that God has allowed for us to do. We have been challenged to remain steadfast in what God has called us to. We feel we now have a greater vision for the foundation and ministry and we are seeing God moving the pieces in place little by little. We are praying more mightily for our future kids, and we feel they will be coming soon! We are also planning on moving in July and are praying and searching for where God wants us to be. We feel God is taking us to the next level in many different areas of our life and are praying for wisdom and discernment in everything. We are excited for everything God has done, is doing, and will continue to do!
“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:22-24
