Marriage Life
Marriage continues to be a great blessing for both of us. God continues to strengthen and unify us more and use us as a testimony for many persons and marriages. Our schools are in the midst of final exams and year-end activities, and our last day is November 17. We are preparing to head to the States on November 19 and be there for two months. We are praying for good health, a blessed time with family and friends, and opportunities to be a blessing to others there. We will be having a “wedding reception” at my parents’ church. I am also scheduled to speak at chapel at the high school I graduated from on November 30. Maria (me, too) is very excited to travel and spend time in the States with family. Maria will also be finishing classes at her university this week.
Enciende El Fuego (Set a Fire)
God continues doing great things (seen and unseen) with the kids in our Barrio 17 ministry. Each Saturday morning we have a time of teaching, recreation, and snacks. Tuesday and Thursday afternoons I am teaching basketball. Before starting each practice, we talk about a biblical principle/verse and pray as a group. We are seeing a hunger for God and His Word there are excited to see how God grows the ministry as seeds continue to be planted. The Gideon’s ministry of Santa Marta has generously donated many Bibles that we have given out to the kids. This coming Saturday (November 11) we will have our Christmas party for the kids and will be giving out gifts from many generous supporters in the U.S. to bless the kids. The gospel will also be presented that day. We are still praying for more volunteers to help us.
School Ministry
We have two weeks left at Esperanza Viva and are in the middle of final exams. This week is also final exams week at Jireh. The 4th and 5th graders at Jireh evangelized last week (Halloween and Nov 2), and once again it was awesome to see how God used them to bless many persons! I finished my last class at Fundadores this past Friday as we talked about the Great Commission and the gospel message. This Sunday will also be my last Sunday school class at the church before leaving for the States. We still don’t know which direction God will lead us in the next year as far as working in the schools, but we are trusting that He will show us as we continue walking by faith!
In Christ,
María and Jonathan
