Life in Santa Marta
Life here on the coast continues to be pretty normal. I continue to be stretched in many ways emotionally and spiritually. I am enjoying my job in the schools and the different opportunities I have had. Wedding plans continue going well. We both have our outfits, the place, and other things. We are currently looking for a house or apartment to live in. We were able to take engagement pictures at a beach last week. We also had the opportunity to speak to a few teenagers at church about relationships and waiting on God. We are seeking God’s will and purpose for us as a couple.
Work in the Schools
I am really enjoying my job in the schools. I am teaching religion and physical education to 6th-8th grades at Juan Calvino each Monday, religion and physical education to 3rd-5th grades at Centro Educativo Jireh every Tuesday and Thursday, and religion and physical education to 2nd-5th grades at Colegio Fundadores every Wednesday and Friday. It’s been a blessing getting to do everything in Spanish and getting to know and work with the students. They show me love every day through hugs, greetings, and sharing food with me. This coming week (Lord willing), I will be taking the 4th and 5th graders of Jireh to the nearby streets to talk to share Christ and pray for people. I taught optional, basic English classes the past few Fridays at Jireh as well in the afternoons. God is definitely doing some great work in the schools!
God’s Purifying Work
God has definitely been doing a lot of work in my heart and with my emotions. He is challenging me to rest and delight in Him and to have peace. I know He is taking me deeper in my walk with Him. God has felt really close lately, and I can feel the closeness and love without having to earn His love and favor. He is so proud of me because I belong to Him. In my work and ministry, I am challenged to just speak and do and let God do the work and receive the glory. God is changing my desires and molding me without me even realizing it. I been challenged to just make decisions and keep moving forward and trust God is leading me. Thankful for who God is and how His character never changes!
En Cristo,
Jonathan
